Vada Pav

Vada Pav - The most lovable snack of mumbaites, it is available at almost every snack corner and mithai shop. However you can make it easily at home with this recipe.



Recipe Ingredients

* Pavs - As required
* Potatoes - 1/2 kg
* Oil - For Frying
* Onions (chopped) - 2
* Green Chillies (chopped) - 3
* Ginger (grated) - 1 tsp
* Coriander (chopped finely) - 1 bunch
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Garam Masala - 1/4 tsp
* Salt to taste

For the batter

* Besan Flour - 1 cup
* Rice Flour - 1 tbsp
* Ajwain - 1/2 tsp
* Asafoetida (hing) - A Pinch
* Salt to taste


Preparation

We recommend you to buy readily available pavs from the market.

First boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Prepare the batter by mixing all the ingredients into a thick consistency.

Mix all the ingredients for the Vadas and form into lemon-size balls. Dip these balls in the batter and deep fry till it has a rich brown colour. Remove onto a tissue paper and serve hot with ketchup or coriander chutney.
