Uppumavu

Uppumavu - Kerala dish made with Rava or Semolina. It is normally serve as a breakfast food, however you can made and serve at any time of the day.



Recipe Ingredients

* Semolina (Rava) - 2 cups

* Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 2 tbsp

* Onion (chopped) - 1

* Green Chillies (onion) - 2

* Ginger (chopped) - A small piece

* Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp

* Curry Leaves - 4 to 5

* Cashew Nuts - a few

* Salt - 1 tsp

* Boiling Water - 4 cups


Preparation

First dissolve salt in the water and heat desi ghee in a pan. Fry cashews till they turn little brown. Remove from the pan and keep aside.

Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion, green chillies, ginger and fry till they turn soft.

Add semolina and fry over low flame for a few minutes till well dried out. Take off the flame and pour in the salted boiling water. Return to flame and stir lightly.

Cook for 5 to 6 minutes and then serve hot after garnishing with fried cashews.
