Tomato Date Chutney

Tomato Date Chutney - A very delicious chutney made with Dates(khajoor) and Tomatoes. You can make it ready in half an hour. This Chutney is mostly served in Bengal along with rice and fish dishes.



Recipe Ingredients

* Tomatoes (chopped) - 1kg

* Dates (Khajur), deseeded - 50g

* Cooking Oil - 2 tsp

* Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp

* Dry Red Chillies - 2

* Sugar - 100g

* Salt to taste

Preparation

Take a kadai(wok) and heat oil in it. Once it is hot add mustard seeds and dry red chillies. Sauté for few seconds till the mustard seeds start crackling.

Add tomatoes and cook for 15 minutes. Add the sugar and salt. Stir till the sugar dissolves completely.

Cook till the mixture obtains a thick consistency. Mix in the dates in the end.

Serve after it cools. When refrigerated this chutney can stay up to 3 days.
