Sweet Boondi

Laddoos made with Sweet Boondi is the most traditional Indian Sweet. Every mithai shop makes it and keep sufficient stock of it.

You can make boondi in your home by following our simple recipe.

Recipe Ingredients

* Gram Flour(Besan) - 1/2 kg

* Water - To make batter

* Sugar - 1/2 kg

* Desi Ghee - For Frying

* Baking Powder - 1/2 tsp

* Saffron - A Pinch

Preparation

First make one thread sugar syrup as explained in our "Jalebi" recipe in the Indian Dessert Recipe section. Keep it warm.

In a large bowl mix Gram flour, baking powder, saffron and water to form a smooth batter. Ensure no lumps remain in the batter and also it is not too thin. Leave it aside for half hour.

Then take a kadai and heat desi ghee in it till it starts boiling. Using a perforated spoon pour batter in the oil. Put little batter at a time.

Then cook the batter beads in oil till turns pale golden and not crispy. Keep turning them frequently. Take them out and put on paper towel. Use all batter to make the beads.

Put all boondis in the warm sugar syrup for 5 minutes. Take them out and make either laddoos or enjoy them as it is.
