Shak Vala Bhat

Shak Vala Bhat - Vegetable Pulao cooked in Gujarati Style. Use Basmati Rice and fresh vegetables to get rich aroma and taste.



Recipe Ingredients

* Basmati Rice - 2 cups
* Cooking Oil - 3 tbsp
* Green Peas - 50g

* Potatoes (peeled and cut to 1" cubes) - 3
* Carrots (peeled and cut to 1" sizes) - 1
* Green Chillies (cut) - 2

* Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
* Cinnamon Stick (1" stick) - 1

* Cloves - 4
* Black peppercorns (sabut kali mirch) - 1 tsp
* Salt to taste

* Water hot - 4 cups

Preparation

First clean and soak Basmati Rice for 1 hour.

After 1 hour take a medium size pan and heat oil in it. Once it is hot add cloves, cinnamon stick and black peppercorns. As they start crackling add rice and sauté for 4 to 5 minutes on slow flame.

Add hot water, all other ingredients (including vegetables). Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 25 minutes or till the vegetables are tender.

Serve Hot along with Coriander Chutney.
