Sewai

Sewai or Sweet Vermicelli is a popular dessert in India. To make it simple we recommend you to purchase ready vermicelli from the shopping mall as making vermicelli in house is a tedious and long process.

Relish this dessert by making it yourself.

Recipe Ingredients

* Sevai (Vermicelli) - 250g
* Desi Ghee - 1/2 cup
* Milk - 1 Litre
* Fine Sugar - 1 cup
* Almonds (cut to pieces)- 12
* Raisins - 12
* Pistas (cut to pieces) - 10
* Cashew nuts - 10(half parts)
* Cardamom Seeds (small) - 5
* Rose Water (Gulab Jal) - 2 tsp

Preparation

In medium size pan heat ghee on slow flame. Add cardamom, pistas, cashew nuts and saute them for 2 to 3 minutes.

Then add vermicelli and fry for another 2 to 3 minutes slowly. Take care to not to break the strands. Add milk and increase the flame to bring to a boil. Once it starts boiling put the gas on medium flame and add sugar. Let it simmer for 15 minutes till vermicelli becomes soft. Stir gently the ingredients so that sugar is dissolved properly.

Add almonds, raisins and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes more. Add rose water, take it off from heat and let it cool down.

Enjoy it chilled by putting it in your refrigerator.
