Rava Idli

Rava Idli - These are the Idlis made from Semolina (Suji or Rava). If you like light breakfast then these are ideal to supplement your hunger.

Recipe Ingredients

* Rava (Suji) - 3 cups

* Gingelly Oil - 2 to 3 tbsp

* Yogurt - 3 cups

* Cooking Soda - A Pinch

* Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

* Urad Dal - 1 tsp

* Channa Dal - 1 tsp

* Green Chilli, ground - 2tsp

* Coriander leaves (chopped) - 2 tbsp

* Salt to taste

Preparation

First roast the Rava in a kadai(wok). Once it is roasted soak it in the yogurt. Add salt and keep aside.

In a separate kadai, heat oil. Once it is hot, fry mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal for 2 to 3 minutes. Add these three to rava mixture / batter.

Now add green chilli paste, coriander paste and cooking soda. Transfer the batter to a larger vessel and keep it aside for 10-11 hours to let it ferment. The batter has to be kept in a warm place for it to rise.

After these hours grease idli plate with a little oil. Pour batter into each idli mould. Steam in idli cooker for 10 to 15 minutes.

Remove and repeat till all the batter is used up.
