Rajasthani Dal

Rajasthani Dal - A Dal Recipe of Moong Dal and Chana Dal combination very popular in Rajasthan.



Recipe Ingredients

* Moong Dal (Green Gram Slit)- 150g
* Chana Dal (Bengal Gram Split) - 50g

* Cooking Oil - 3 tbsp
* Onions (chopped) - 1

* Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp

* Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
* Asafoetida - A Pinch

* Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
* Red Chillies (whole) - 2

* Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
* Amchur (Dry Mango Powder) - 1/2 tsp

* Salt to taste



Preparation

First wash, clean and soak Chana Dal and Moong Dal for one hour.

Take a kadai and boil both the Dals in 5 to 6 cups of water. Just before you put on the gas add turmeric powder and salt int he water. Let it boil till Dals are cooked and done properly.

In a pan heat oil in it. Once it is hot add cumin seeds, as the seeds start crackling add onions. Sauté till onions turn little golden brown. Then add red chillies, ginger garlic paste, amchur, asafoetida, red chilli powder. Mix well these ingredients and add cooked dals in it. Add little water and again cook on medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes more.

Serve hot after sprinkling garam masala and mixing well.
