Your diet can help you quit smoking. Keep a close watch on what you eat and you are on your way to being cigarette free.
It is well known now that a person’s dietary pattern can have a influence on their smoking behaviour. When clubbed with meat, alcohol or caffeinated beverages, cigarettes appear to taste better. When combined with fruit, vegetables, dairy products, water, juice or non-caffeinated drinks, cigarettes appear to taste worse.
Researchers also suggest that body weight often influences a person’s decision to smoke. One reason people start smoking or do not try to quit might be because of the effect cigarettes could have on weight. Then would it not be better to combine this phenomenon with foods that not only make smoking less enjoyable, but additional virtues to your diet
which are beneficial to keep the problems associated with smoking at bay ?
Take Salads with every Meal – Make a practice to load your diets with salads. Make salads interesting by trying out various vegetables and fruits. Mix them with sprouts, corn, paneer(cottage cheese), mushrooms etc combined with low-calorie dressings.
Fill your diet with nutrient dense non-caffeinated beverages – such as coconut water, fresh lime juice, citrus juice, buttermilk, fibrous soups etc.
Get the immune boosters, the ‘proteins’ in your diet from low fat dairy products. Emphasize on low fat yoghurt, preferably probiotic yoghurt to reap the benefit of better digestibility and an improved gut flora.
Avoid ‘Junk Eating’, which includes fast food, empty calorie snacks, sugary and salty ready-to-eat preparations loaded with bad-quality fats.
All these good food will come to your aid to stop smoking.
