Poha Recipe

Poha Recipe - A light breakfast snack very popular in western and northern part of India. The below recipe is with Maharashtrian style of cooking.



Recipe Ingredients

* Poha (thick) - 2 cups
* Onions (chopped) - 1

* Potatoes (peeled & chopped) - 1
* Cooking Oil - 2 tsp

* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp

* Sugar - 1/2 tsp
* Peanuts (roasted) - 50g

* Coriander Leaves (chopped) - hand full
* Green Chillies (cut) - 2

* Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Salt to taste



Preparation

First roast the peanuts(1 tsp) in little oil and keep aside once they are done.

Take a big bowl and wash and soak poha in it for 30 minutes. Let the poha pieces be fully soaked under water.

After half hour drain of the excess water and keep it aside.

In a pan heat the oil. Once it is hot add mustard seeds. As seeds sputtering add green chillies, chopped onions and potatoes. Sauté till they turn little brown and potatoes are done.

Add peanuts, mix well. Now add poha, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sugar and salt. Mix all these ingredients properly and serve after garnishing with coriander leaves.
