Podi Recipe - Podi made with mashed plantains (kela). Simple to make in 15 to 20 minutes.
* Plantain (Kela/Banana - Raw) - 3 or 4
* Refined Oil - 4 tsp
* Dry Red Chillies - 3
* Split Red Gram (Arhar Dal) - 2 tsp
* Split Black Gram (Urad Dal) - 2 tsp
* Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
* Asafoetida (hing) - A Pinch
* Salt to taste
First either roast the plantain(kela) over the fire till the skin turns black and peel, or cook the plantain in its skin and peel.
Take a pan and heat oil in it. Once it is hot sauté the dry red chillies, slit red gram, split black gram, mustard seeds and asafoetida till the mixture turns reddish.
Grind the above mixture into a coarse powder with salt.
Break the cooked plantain into pieces with your fingers and mix with the powder.
