Plum Chutney

Plum Chutney is best made with fresh Plums taken from market. Plum Juice with it's sweet-and-sour taste is an ideal source for making a tasty chutney. The distinct aroma of Plum fresh also brings a unique taste to the chutney.



Chutney Ingredients

* Plums - 15 No's
* Vinegar - 2 to 3 tsp
* Raisins - half hand full
* Vegetable Oil - 2 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Sugar - 7 to 8 tsp or as per taste
* Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Cardamom - 4 to 5
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp
* Salt - 1 tsp



Make Chutney

Boil the Plums in water.Remove the seeds once plums are soft.

Boil them again with little water on medium flame along with raisins, salt, sugar, Turmeric Powder, vinegar and Red Chilli Powder. Let the mixture simmer till a thick paste is formed.

In a separate pan put vegetable oil and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, salt, black pepper and cardamom. Let this remain on flame for 2 to 3 minutes till seeds start sputtering and add plums mixture to it.

Mix all for few minutes. Add water also if required to make chutney paste less thick. Cool it and chutney is ready to serve.
