Pindi Chana

Pindi Chana is a traditional Punjabi Recipe and some call it Chana Chole or Chana Masala also. This dish is enjoyed mostly along with naan or tandoori roti and is most popular of all chana recipes.

Recipe Ingredients

* White Chickpeas - 1 cup
* Onion (chopped) - 2
* Ginger - One small piece
* Tea Bag - 1
* Garlic - 2 to 3 flakes
* Oil - 3 tbsp
* Tomatoes (chopped)- 2
* Green Chillies (chopped)- 2 to 3
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp
* Tamarind Puree - 2 tbsp
* Salt to taste

Preparation

Soak chickpeas overnight for preparing the dish next day.

In a pressure cooker, cook chanas along with tea bag, salt and water till they become soft. This should normally take 4 whistles.

Take a pan and fry cumin seeds in oil till they start sputtering. Immediately add onion, garlic, ginger, garam masala, green chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, tomatoes and mix all properly till oil separates.

Once mixture is ready add Chanas and salt and fry well. If required add little water also. Let the whole dish simmer for 5 to 10 minutes on medium flame and mixes well.

Use Coriander leaves to garnish it.
