Paruppu Urundai

Paruppu Urundai - A dish made of lentil balls enjoyed most with Kuzhambu and Sambar.



Recipe Ingredients

* Toor Dal - 1 cup

* Rice Flour - 1 tsp

* Refined Oil - As required

* Red Chillies - 6

* Onion, chopped - 1/2 cup

* Coconut grated - 1/2 cup

* Asafoetida - A Pinch

* Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp

* Green Chillies, chopped - 2

* Salt to taste



Preparation

First clean and soak toor dal in water for 2 hours. Drain and grind dal with red chillies, asafoetida and required salt into a coarse firm paste.

Heat a little oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and fry till they start spluttering. Add and fry green chillies and onions. Add the ground dal paste and stir till it changes colour.

When it is well cooked, remove from fire. Add grated coconut and rice flour. Mix well. Make into small balls and keep aside.
