Pal Payasam

Pal Payasam - Traditional Kerala Dessert made of rice. Enjoy it chilled or warm after meal.



Recipe Ingredients

* Raw Red Rice (broken) - 1/4 cup

* Milk - 1 Ltr

* Desi Ghee (clarified butter) - 1 tbsp

* Sugar - 1 cup

* Cardamom (crushed) - 1

* Cashews (broken) - 1/4 cup

* Raisins (small) - 8 to 10



Preparation

First stir together the milk, sugar and rice till the sugar dissolves.

Add the raisins, crushed cardamom and pour into a pressure cooker, bring to boil. Lower the heat, cover, place the weight and cook on the lowest flame for fifteen minutes.

Remove, let it cool till the pressure had dropped sufficiently, remove the weight.

Meanwhile fry the broken cashews till they turn little golden. Add to the cooked milk and stir.

Serve warm or chilled.
