Mullu Murukku

Mullu Murukku - Star shaped South Indian crisp snack made of rice and dal flour. Murukku is an auspicious snack for weddings in whole of South India.



Recipe Ingredients

* Processed Rice Flour - 1 cup

* Chana Dal - 1 cup

* Moong Dal - 1 cup

* Cooking Oil - For Deep Frying

* Butter - 1 tsp

* Salt to taste

* Water - To make dough



Preparation

First dry roast Moong dal and Chana Dal separately to a golden pink colour. Then grind each Dal to a smooth powder.

In a large bowl mix together processed rice flour, chana flour and moong dal. Add butter and required salt and water to make a stiff dough.

Using a mould plate, prepare murukku with whole of the dough. Spread murukku on a piece of cloth and let it dry for some time.

Take a kadai and heat oil in it. Transfer each murukku onto a greased plate and gently slide into hot oil. Deep fry till it turns golden brown.

Serve on a plate.
