Kulcha Recipe

Kulcha Recipe to enjoy with Punjabi Chole and mango pickle. This special Bread is more popular in Northern parts of India like Delhi. You can make it yourself with this easy recipe.

Recipe Ingredients

* Maida (Refined Flour) - 3 to 4 cups
* Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 1 tbsp
* Yoghurt - 1/2 cup
* Milk - 1 cup
* Yeast - 3 tsp
* Poppy Seeds (khuskhus) - 2 tbsp
* Sugar - 1 tsp
* Salt - 1 tsp
* Water - 1/2 cup

Preparation

First warm the milk in a pan, add sugar and yeast. Once it reaches boiling stage remove from the heat and keep it aside for half hour.

Sieve the flour with salt. Pour the milk-yeast mixture and clarified butter. Mix well. Slowly add the yoghurt and knead to make a soft dough. Cover with a moist cloth and leave aside for 6 hours.

After 6 hours knead again with adding little warm water(if required). Divide the dough into equal size dough balls. Roll each into thick discs of 6" diameter. Cover with a damp cloth for another half hour to let the dough ferment more.

Now apply little milk on top of each disc and sprinkle the poppy seeds. Bake the discs in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and shallow fry on a griddle with oil till golden and cooked fully.

Serve hot along with Punjabi Chole.
