Khakra- A Gujarati Snack mostly enjoyed with evening tea. You can prepare this Gujarati dish in 45 minutes with our below simple recipe.

Recipe Ingredients

* Wheat Flour - 2 cups

* Cooking Oil - 1/4 cup

* Ajwain (Carom Seeds) - 1 tsp

* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp

* Asafoetida - a pinch

* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp

* Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves) - 1/2 cup

* Salt to taste - 1 tsp


Take a medium size bowl and mix all the ingredients together. Using sufficient amount of water little by little, make a smooth dough. Keep it aside.

Now make equal size dough balls from the ready dough. Roll each ball to wafer thin thickness. Use dry flour in between so that dough does not stick to surface or the rolling pin.

In a pan, heat oil in it. Once it is hot gently put thin rolled chapati type dough on it. As you observe bubbles start appearing on the top surface gently press it down and around with a clean cloth. Keep pressing down and around till the bottom surface is crisp and golden.

Smear little oil on the top surface and turn over and cook similarly till the other side is also golden and crisp. Remove from pan and cook other dough balls in similar fashion.

Let it cool down and enjoy with your Masala Tea.
