Kerala Mutton Curry

Kerala Mutton Curry - A traditional kerala dish of mutton served mostly along with rice and papad.

Recipe Ingredients

* Mutton (goat meat) - 1 kg
* Coconut Oil - 2 to 3 tbsp
* Onion (chopped) - 1
* Tomato (chopped) - 1
* Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tsp
* Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
* Coriander Seeds - 1 tsp
* Red Chillies - 1
* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Green Cardamom - 2
* Cinnamon - 2
* Cloves - 3
* Curry Leaves - 4 to 5
* Green Chillies (chopped) - 2
* Coriander Leaves - hand full
* Salt to taste

Preparation

Take a kadai(wok) and heat coconut oil(1 tbsp) in it. Once it is hot fry coriander seeds and red chillies separately and keep aside.

Fry other spices - cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds and keep aside.

Mix all the fried ingredients together and form a mixture. Add salt and turmeric powder to form a marinate. Apply the marinate on the mutton pieces and keep aside for 1 hour.

Cook the meat in the pressure cooker till half done. In the same kadai, sauté chopped onions and ginger garlic paste till onions turn little golden brown. Add tomatoes and cook till they turn soft. Add cooked mutton and water as per requirement, mix well and bring to a boil. Add little salt to it.

Cook till the mutton is fully done and soft and gravy has thickened. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot along with steamed rice.
