Ginger

Ginger (or Adrak) is the most medicinally blessed spice in the Indian Kitchen. It aids stomach congestion, mild fever, acidity and common cold. It is also reputed to cure ulcers when chewed in small doses. A glass of ginger ale can help reduce flatulence. It increases appetite when mixed with other spices. It also cures nausea, traveling sickness and hangovers.

Along with its inflammation cooling properties, this spice may have anti-cancer powers too. It possesses two cancer-inhibiting compounds, 6-gingerol and 6-paradol, and it lends a warm pungent twist to dishes, especially fish.

Want to refresh yourself, make a hot tea with mixture of this spice and basil(Tulsi) leaves. It will sure freshen you up. It's anti-inflammatory properties make it a natural remedy for heartburn. It is also effective against morning sickness, migraine, cold and flu, stomach ailments and even the menstrual cramps.
