Ghee Bhat - Bengali Dish of Rice cooked with Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter). A simple Bhat recipe which can be made ready in 20 to 25 minutes.
* Basmati Rice - 200g
* Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 3 tbsp
* Bayleaf (Tej Patta)- 1
* Cloves (laung)- 2
* Cinnamon 1/2" (dalchini) - 1
* Black Peppercorns (kali mirch) - 4
* Salt - 1 tsp
* Water - 2 cups
First clean, wash and soak rice for 2 hours. Drain the water and keep aside.
Heat the clarified butter, sauté the cloves, cinnamon, bayleaf and black peppercorns for few seconds.
Add the rice and sauté for a minute. Then immediately add water and salt.
Cook until the rice is done and water gets absorbed. Serve hot.
