Fish Rice or Fish Biryani is another special sticky rice dish made with oven baking of fish slices. The dish can be most enjoyed with any Indian Vegetarian Curry.
Recipe Ingredients
* King Fish slices - 1/2 kg
* Basmati Rice - 2 cups
* Ghee - 2 tbsp
* Lemon Juice - 2 tbsp
* Onion (chopped) - 1
* Coriander Powder - 1 tsp
* Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Cloves - 3
* Cardamom (small) - 3
* Garam masala - 1 tsp
* Salt to taste
* Water - 4 cups
Preparation
Make slices of fish and apply turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice. Keep them aside for 20 minutes. Then in a medium size pan heat the ghee(1tbsp) and fry fish pieces till half cooked.
In the same pan put the remaining ghee and saute onion till little brown. Add water to it and when water starts boiling add all the ingredients including rice (but not fish) and cook for 15 minutes on medium flame till rice is cooked and water has evaporated.
Take this cooked rice out and put a layer of it on flat plate or dish. Then spread fish slices on it and on top of fish pieces put another layer of cooked rice. Do this again till all fish slices have been used up. Put this plate in an oven or you can cook it in the cooker also by covering the lid and cooking for 10 minutes on slow flame.
Take out and serve hot with any curry.
