Fada Ni Khichdi
Fada Ni Khichdi - Gujarati Khichdi made with Moong Dal, Dalia and Green Vegetables. If you want to eat something light then make this Khichdi in half an hour.
* Moong Dal Dhuli(Slpit Green Gram) - 1 cup
* Dalia (broken wheat) - 3/4 cup
* Desi Ghee - 3 tbsp
* Green Peas - 1/2 cup
* Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
* Onions (chopped) - 1
* Cinnamon Stick 1" - 1
* Asafoetida - a pinch
* Cloves - 2
* Potatoes (peeled & cut to 1" pieces) - 2
* Cauliflower (florets) - 1 cup
* Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
* Black Peppercorns - 1/2 tsp
* Green Chilli Ginger Paste - 1 tbsp
* Salt to taste
* Water (hot) - 2 cups
First wash and soak Moong Dal(split green gram) and Dalia for 15 minutes. Drain out excess water after 15-20 minutes.
Take a pressure cooker and heat desi ghee in it. Once it is hot add cinnamon stick, cloves, cumin seeds and asafoetida. Sauté for a minute.
Add potatoes, cauliflower, green peas, onions and green ginger garlic paste. Sauté till vegetables are tender.
Add soaked moong dal, Dalia, black peppercorns, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Stir fry for 5 minutes. Add hot water and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
Allow the steam to escape then open the pressure cooker carefully. Stir vigorously, adding a little more hot water,if required, so that Moong Dal and Dalia mix well.
If required adjust the seasoning and serve hot along with Coriander Chutney.
