Erissery

Erissery - Kerala Dish of Yam and Banana Coconut. You can use snake gourd, pumpkin also to make this dish.



Recipe Ingredients

* Elephant Yam (cut to cubes) - 300g

* Raw Banana (cut to cubes) - 2

* Coconut Oil - As per requirement

* Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp

* Curry Leaves - 5 to 6

* Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp

* Rice - 1 tsp

* Pepper - 1 tsp

* Coconut (grated) - 1 cup

* Salt to taste



Preparation

Take a pan and cook the yam with turmeric powder and required salt. When half done, add bananas and cook.

Grind together half cup coconut, pepper and rice. Add the ground paste to the cooked vegetables and boil together for a few minutes. Fry the remaining coconut to a golden colour in a little oil and add to the gravy.

Boil well till the raw smell is removed and season.
