Dal Phulka

Dal Phulka - Roti made with stuffed Moong Dal. Enjoy this special roti with Baingan ka Bharta.

Recipe Ingredients

* Green Gram (Moong Dal)- 100g

* Wheat Flour - 2 cups

* Desi Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 5 to 6 tbsp

* Onion (finely chopped) - 1

* Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp

* Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp

* Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp

* Coriander Leaves (finely chopped) - hand full

* Salt to taste

Preparation

First soak Moong Dal for 15 to 20 minutes. After 15 minutes drain out the excess water.

In a medium bowl, add desi ghee(1 tbsp) to wheat flour. Make a smooth dough by adding sufficient water. Divide it to equal size dough balls. Keep them aside.

Heat 1 to 2 tsp of ghee in a pan. Add Dal with salt and turmeric powder in the pan. Cook till Dal turns soft. At this point add onions, red chilli powder, green chillies, garam masala and coriander leaves. Mix well.

Take each dough ball, press down the centre and stuff with above ready dal mixture. Cover from all sides and roll out using a rolling pin.

Cook these flat phulkas on a preheated tawa (frying pan). Apply Desi Ghee on top side. Cook for some time and turn it over. Smear other side also with ghee. Cook till it turn brown and crisp.

Serve hot along with Baingan Bharta.
