Dahi Vada is another very popular punjabi dish. Best part of this vada recipe is that it can be stored in refrigerator for a week or so.
If you like it little more spicy then make a Masala Vada by adding little red chilli powder, mango powder to the below ingredients
* Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
* Moong Dal - 1 cup
* Oil to fry
* Salt to taste
* Yogurt - 2 cups
* Tamarind Chutney - 2 tbsp
* Coriander Leaves - 1/2 small cup
* Cumin Powder (roasted) - 1/2 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp
* Salt to taste - 1 tsp
Soak Urad Dal overnight. Grind it in a food processor and make a paste of it. Add salt to it and use very little water to make smooth paste while blending. Take care not to use excess water as it will loosen the dal paste while blending.
Take oil in a pan and heat it on a medium flame. Drop balls of dal paste in the oil slowly. Fry these for few minutes till they turn golden brown. Soak these vadas in hot water for 4 to 5 minutes.
Take out the vadas, squeeze out the excess water and then soak all in yogurt for 4 to 5 minutes.
While serving sprinkle red chilli powder, roasted cumin seeds powder, and finally tamarind chutney on top as the ultimate appetiser. Garnish them with fresh coriander leaves.
