Curry Vindaloo

Curry Vindaloo is a Goan dish now popular in most parts of the world. Vindaloo is a term which means an Indian dish made with meat and rich spices.



Traditional meats used are chicken, pork but here we are going to make this recipe with Lamb. First part is to make Vindaloo paste with traditional Indian spices.

Recipe Ingredients :

* Lamb pieces – 1 / 2 kg

Spice Paste with Vinegar

* Vinegar – 2 tbsps
* Ginger Garlic Paste – 2 tbsps
* Turmeric Powder – 1 / 2 tsp
* Cumin Seeds – 1 / 2 tsp
* Cinnamon Stick – 1 (small)
* Cardamoms (choti elaichi) – 4
* Red Chillies – 5
* Salt to Taste

* Vegetable Oil – 5 to 6 tbsps
* Onions (chopped) – 2
* Potatoes (peeled & cut to pieces) – 1
* Tomatoes (chopped)– 2
* Green Peas – 250g



Preparation :

First make a paste of all spices by grinding with vinegar.

Marinate the lamb pieces with this spice paste and salt. Keep it aside for 2 hours.

Take a Wok (Kadai) and heat oil in it. Once it is hot fry lamb pieces for 10 minutes. Add 5 cups of water and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir occasionally. Cook for 45 minutes till the lamb is almost done.

Now add potatoes, onions and tomatoes to the curry. Cook till the potatoes and lamb are cooked properly. Add green peas and if required add more water to the dish, mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more and serve.
