Curry rice - A simple recipe to make, you can make this recipe when time is short. Use a ready curry powder (purchased from market) to bring the curry flavour.
Curry and Rice Recipe Ingredients :
* Basmati Rice – 2 cups
* Onion (chopped) – 1
* Desi Ghee (clarified butter) – 1 tbsp
* Carrot pieces – 8 or 9
* Peas - 1/2 cup
* Curry Powder (Readily available in Market) – 2 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1 /2 tsp
* Garam Masala – 1 /2 tsp
* Water – 3 to 4 cups
* Salt to taste
Preparation :
First wash thoroughly rice and all vegetables like carrot, peas etc. Then boil peas with half cup of water in a pressure cooker for one whistle.
Take a pan and sauté onions, carrots in hot Desi Ghee. Once they are tender add peas, curry powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt. Add rice and water to the pan. Stir and mix properly. Cover the pan with lid and let it cook for half an hour.
Serve hot and enjoy the dish with tamarind chutney.
