Cholar Dal - Bengal Gram cooked with coconut and aniseed. Serve this Dal along with Rice and Sukhe Alu.
Recipe Ingredients
* Bengal Gram (Chana Dal) - 250g
* Cooking Oil - 2 tbsp
* Aniseed - 1 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
* Cinnamon Stick (1/2")- 1
* Sugar - 2 tsp
* Coconut (thin small pieces) - 4 tsp
* Salt - 1 tsp
Preparation
First boil the bengal gram with turmeric powder and water( 1 1/2 cup) till it is fully done.
Take a Kadai (wok) and heat oil in it. Once it is hot sauté the aniseeds and cinnamon together for a minute or so. Then add the coconut and sauté further for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add boiled bengal gram and then cook for 10 minutes more. Mix in the salt and sugar. Serve hot along with basmati rice.
