Chicken Korma

Chicken Korma is a dish popular in Rajasthan, Punjab and other northern parts of India. Korma dish means a meat, normally mutton, cooked in yogurt and saffron. However korma dishes now-a-days are made with all types of meat including chicken.



Recipe Ingredients

* Chicken Breasts - 1 Kg
* Onions (chopped) - 1 Big
* Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tbsp
* Cooking Oil - 3 tbsp
* Yogurt - 3/4 cup
* Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp
* Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
* Garam Masala - 1 tsp
* Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
* Red Chilli Powder - 2
* Green Cardamom - 4
* Saffron (crushed) - a pinch
* Ground Coriander - 1 tbsp
* Coriander Leaves - hand full
* Salt to taste


Preparation

Clean and cut chicken pieces into bite sizes. Mix the pieces with ginger garlic paste, yogurt,pepper,lemon juice, salt(1 tsp) and marinade for 2 to 3 hours.

After 3 hours take a pan and heat oil in it. Once it is hot sauté onions in it. As they turn little brown add ground coriander, chilli powder, cardamom, turmeric powder and fry for few minutes.

Now add marinated chicken pieces along with water(as per choice)and crushed saffron. Add little salt (1 tsp) and cover the pan with a lid.

Let the dish cook on medium flame for 35 to 40 minutes till chicken pieces are tender. Take off from flame and garnish with coriander leaves.
