Bhindi Jhal - Okra(Bhindi) Curry cooked in mustard paste and oil. A very traditional Bengali dish that can be made ready in 20 minutes.
* Bhindi (Okra) - 250g
* Mustard Oil - 2 tbsp
* Mustard Paste - 2 tbsp
* Green Chillies (cut) - 2
* Salt to taste
* Water - 1/4 cup
Mustard Paste Preparation
Take 200g of Mustard seeds (sarson) and wash well. Grind to a paste by adding just enough water to get a paste like consistency.
First wash the bhindis and pat dry them completely. Cut off the tail and head and slit each bhindi into half.
Take a kadai(wok) and heat mustard oil in it. Once it is hot sauté the bhindis till they are little soft and tender. Add mustard paste, salt , green chillies and water.
Cook over a medium flame till the okra is done. Serve hot.
