Bhakri

Bhakri - A flattened bread made with whole wheat flour and enjoyed most with Garlic Chutney, Aloo Sabji and raw onions. This Roti is very popular in dry regions of India like Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Recipe Ingredients

* Sorghum (Jowar)Flour - 2 cups

* Ajwain (Carom Seeds) - 1 tsp

* Desi Ghee - 1 tbsp

* Water - 1 cup

* Salt - 1 tsp

Preparation

First boil the water and once it's hot keep it aside.

Take a Thali and put flour in it. In the center of the flour make a well and slowly add salt. Mix well using hot water and start making dough.

In between add ajwain and desi ghee and make dough which is neither hard nor very soft. Make dough balls and spread them on Chakla using Belan(rolling Pin).

Use dry flour so that dough does not stick to Chakla or Belan. Take a tawa and heat it on gas. Once it is hot apply warm water to your hand and put flat dough in between your palms and put on the hot tawa.

Apply little water to the top surface with your hand. Lower the flame to medium. As the bottom portion starts turning brown flip the sides. This way cook both the side and serve hot.

Enjoy with Aloo sabji, Garlic Chutney, Mango Pickle and raw onion.
