Adai Recipe - Dosa made with the batter or rice and various dals (lentils). Make it yourself in half an hour and serve with ready Sambhar and Coconut Chutney.

Recipe Ingredients

* Rice - 2 cups

* Refined Oil - For Frying

* Split Red Gram Dal (Arhar Dal) - 1 cup

* Split Bengal Gram (Chana Dal) - 1/2 cup

* Split Black Gram (Urad Dal) - 1/2 cup

* Dry Red Chillies - 4

* Asafoetida (hing) - A Pinch

* Salt to taste

Preparation

First soak the rice and all the three dals for 2 hours. Drain and grind with dry red chillies, salt, asafoetida and some water to make a thick batter.

Heat a griddle(tawa) and smear 1 tsp oil over it. Spread a ladleful of the batter from the centre outwards in circular motions with the ladle itself.

Fry till one side is golden brown. Then flip and fry till the other side is crisp and golden brown. Remove and repeat till all the batter is used up.
